Todd County in South Dakota
Information about Todd County in South Dakota.
Todd County was named after Mary Todd Lincoln's
cousin John Blair Smith Todd, delegate from the
Dakota Territory to the U.S. House of Representatives
and a general in the Union Army during the Civil War.
Todd county does not have a county seat but its largest
community is the town of Mission. The county is
in the South Central region of South Dakota on the state's
border with Nebraska.
It lies entirely within the Rosebud Indian Reservation, home of the
Upper Brule Sioux Nation and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
