This unusual coleslaw recipe is made with ketchup
or barbecue sauce instead of mayonnaise. A popular
variation of this coleslaw recipe includes both
ketchup and mayonnaise, giving it more of a Russian
Salad Dressing taste.
Red Slaw Ingredients
- 1 pound of green cabbage
- 4 tablespoons of barbecue sauce or ketchup
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoons of salt
- 1/2 teaspoons of ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoons of red pepper flakes
Red Slaw Instructions
Finely chop or finely grate the cabbage. Mix together other
ingredients, but lighten up on the salt, pepper,
and red pepper flakes if you are using barbecue
sauce instead of ketchup.
Pour the dressing over the cabbage and gently stir
until all of the cabage is coated with dressing.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 20
minutes, or longer is possible, to allow the
flavors to blend.
